Lutheran
Women Today
|
Annual group rate subscriptions to this magazine are
forwarded in September. All women are urged to use it as a source of
support and inspiration. The monthly ELCW Bible Study is an important
part of the periodical.

Penny
Collection
|
Each year the Synodical Women collect change for a
specific project. All members of the congregation support this effort.
This year, the money will be going to help those hurt by hurricanes.

Prayer
Partners
|
prayer is an important part of Christian life. Those
who wish will receive the name of another woman in the church for whom to
pray. During the February luncheon, past partner names are revealed and
new ones are selected. Token gifts may be exchanged.

Thankoffering
Service
|
We have many things for which we are thankful every
year. Each time you think of something for which you are thankful, set
aside a small donation in your Thankoffering Box, and present it during
the annual Thankoffering Service. You'll be surprised how it adds up! The
money goes to help fund projects of the Women of the ELCA, but all
members of the congregation are invited to join in the project! This
year's efforts involve working for justice among women and children in
poverty, helping the abused and those in prison, etc.

Service
Opportunities
|
Many hands make light work. Women participate in all
areas of our church life. They are important members of committees and
function in leadership roles in groups sponsored by these committees.
They serve on Church Council, teach Sunday School and Vacation Bible
School. They are , are on the Altar Guild, sing, play handbells, assist
in the nursery and sing in the choir. They help clean the church and work
outdoors, host coffee hours and special events. They volunteer in the
office, count offerings, and assist and lead worship. Read the weekly
bulletin and the monthly "Witness" to find ways in which you
can serve and expand your gifts!

Community
Involvement
|
Our congregation supports actively the work of Religious
Community Services, which has a food pantry, soup kitchen, clothing
center, night shelter and health clinic. We help the Salvation Army
in its toy and food drive before Christmas, gathering, packing and
distributing, as well as interviewing clients to assess needs. We also
dress dolls and bears to be given out in the gift bags. We actively
participate in the annual October CROP Walk, and make sandwiches
for the Red Cross blood drive. Many of our women also volunteer at
the Craven Regional Medical Center and Merci Clinic. Some
work with the American Heart Association, in the Literacy
Program, or as volunteers in the local schools.
