St Andrew Council Mtg 1/13/10 Minutes Draft
President Bernie Orris opened the meeting at 7pm, Pastor Rust leading us in prayer.
Present: Bernie Orris, Ed Blakelock, Jeff French, Barbara Riegel, Paul Miottke, Bob Morrissey, Ollie Beall, Lauren Hudgins, Pastor Rust, Craig Schadewald, Sarah Hall, Gail Pethia, and Karen Ellenberger.
*Devotions were led by Karen.
*Minutes: Motion to accept the 12/9/09 Council Minutes as presented made by Jeff French, 2nd by Bob Morrissey. Motion carried.
*Treasurer’s Report: Ed Blakelock- 2009 ended up with operating receipts $1,013.99 over budget. 2009 expenses were $1,407.56 over income.

*Bernie reviewed the Executive Committee’s decision on a Columbarium inquiry. Motion made by Bob Morrissey (2nd by Barbara Riegel) to ratify the decision. Motion carried.
*Memorial Committee- Bernie asked if everyone received the email sent out from Bob Weeks.

*Finance Committee- Ollie Beall- Committee wants to review Undesignated Restricted Funds at the end of First Quarter and the 1st Sunday Debt reduction in light of possible deficits in the operating budget. Motion by Bob Morrissey, (2nd by Jeff French) that the Finance Committee coordinates with the Memorial Committee and come up with a recommendation on undesignated funds, to be presented at the April Council Meeting. Motion carried.


*Fellowship: Lauren Hudgens- no written report. There will be a potluck lunch at the congregational meeting on January 24th. Fellowship also plans to have the soups for the Lenten dinners again.
*Property: Paul Miottke- See report- Council questioned if there exists a contract with Hardison. Paul will look into this.

*Stewardship: Bob Morrissey- no report
*Christian Education: Sarah Hall- Committee thanks Paul and Property for installing the white board and would like more old chalk boards replaced.

*Youth: Craig Schadewald-


*Social Ministry: Barbara Riegel- See Report:


*Evangelism: Jeff French- Committee meeting will be held on January 20th at 10am. After a break for lunch, an Evangelism Walk will begin at 1pm.
*Worship & Music: Gail Pethia- See Report:

*Pastor’s Report- Pastor Rust- See Report. In 2009, St Andrew took in 36 new members. (In 2008, took in 34).
Pastor mentioned that he would like to be the Leader of the 2012 National Gathering Trip for the High School Youth. Craig Schadewald (Youth) said his committee would work together with Pastor on the trip.

*Council Prayer Circle- President Bernie stated she would like to have the council take a few moments to pray for the Constitution changes it is working on, the Vision for the Church, and the Upcoming Congregational Meeting. Pastor started the prayer and then it went around the table.
**Unfinished Business:
1)
Part Time Janitor Position: Pastor Rust- The former
janitor was let go do to failure to work the hours he was reporting as worked.
Zeke Zimmerman is serving as the Interim janitor. He will continue to serve for
a 90 day period, at which time a review will be done. Bob Morrissey- made motion to hire Zeke as the interim janitor working
up to 12 hours per week at the same wage. After 90 days (March), he will be
reviewed to consider him for permanent position. 2nd made by Barbara
Riegel.
Discussion: Paul & Personnel will do the review. Pastor commended Paul for serving and training Zeke.
Craig mentioned the “interim
purpose”. Motion Carried.
2) Lights for the Library- Paul questioned the wisdom of having 2 computers and “plug-in” lights on one outlet. He feels can lights overhead would be better. Paul has someone who can install these.
*New Business:
Mary Mascia has reported that The Shopper is putting together a paper for the 300th city anniversary. Evangelism should look into this.
Auction: Barbara Riegel reports that the Civic Theatre has a play planned for the same night (9/17) as the auction. The auction date will probably be changed.
Announcements:
Council Retreat- will be at 9am to 2pm this Saturday at Centenary. Ollie reported that he will be absent.
The agenda will include the Constitutional changes- Egon

Karen will bring sandwiches, Barbara- chips and paper products, Sarah, Gail, Bob –desserts, Lauren & Egon- drinks.
Bernie closed the meeting at 8:10pm with The Lords Prayer.
