Guests: Jeff French, Alan Kutzing, Ray Ramsden, Bonnie Roach

*Emily Phillips (from Lutheran Services for the Aging) presented the LSA’s Capital Campaign for Expansion.

She showed a DVD entitled “Keeping the Promise”. The campaign’s goal is to raise $5M, to help build 4 new Lutheran Homes in NC (new in Wilmington & Clemmons, replacements in Winston Salem & Hickory). LSA is also incorporating “Wrap around Services” to help SR’s stay in their home, with help from a LSA Geriatric Specialist. The current campaign is for 3 years and involves Lutheran congregations making a 3 year pledge.  The basic goal is $100 per worshiper which would be $33/year. Emily wrapped up with Three Asks: 1) consider running the campaign at St Andrew, 2) Select someone to run a 5-6 week campaign, contacting all members (this person would attend training in January). 3) Set a monetary goal.

*Devotions were led by Bernie Orris.

*Minutes: Motion to accept the July 2010 meeting minutes made by Ollie Beall, 2nd by Bob Morrissey. Motion carried.

*Stain Glass Windows Report: Alan Kutzing-The 2 triangular windows are overdue. The artist, Rich Daniels, has promised the windows will be finished by Friday, 9/17/10. Per the committee- the issue is the time table. They reviewed all possibilities and decided to stay with Rich. He is finishing the triangles and has started on the other windows.  He owns the design; however, it is only to be used at St Andrew. There may be a contract issue to change artists. Egon-What type of contract do we have? Alan-Basically it is word of faith. Pastor Rust- Will we keep forgiving the delays? Alan-His cash flow is better now. Alan feels the larger windows will come along much quicker once the triangular ones are finished. To get the design in the triangles was painstaking. Ollie-See if he meets his deadline of 9/17, then make a decision. Pastor Weeks was on the original committee, and spoke of some of those initial consultations. Bernie-We are just “holding & waiting” during the next week & ½.
