St Andrew Lutheran Council Meeting Draft 2/10/11
President Bernie Orris opened the meeting at 7pm, with Pastor Rust leading in prayer.

Visitor- Terry Lindquist; Absent- Lauren Hudgins
Minutes- Motion to accept the minutes from the
1/13/11 Council Meeting was made by Craig Schadewald, 2nd by Paul
Miottke. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report- Ed Blakelock- See Report (Bulletin Board, Website). The Audit is halfway through, should be finished this Friday. Jeff Hale will be giving the report to the Finance Committee at their next meeting.
Bernie- The checking account signatures will be updated. She feels a safe deposit box at the bank would be a good thing to hold Deeds to the Property, and other impt documents. The names on the account (signatures) will have access to the box.
Special Business Item- Terry has asked how shall voting members be defined.
*Voting members will have communed and made a contribution of record, either monetarily or in service, within the last year.
*Couples- commune as individuals, but contribute as a couple. Children up to 22 yrs fall under the Family Umbrella. Children over 22 yrs of age must commune and make a contribution within the last year.
For the Vote, the signature table will be set up for quorum purposes only. Only Voting Members will be in the room during voting. Ballots will be signed for once inside the room.
Pastor’s Report- Spoke of the “Keeping the Promise”
fundraiser for Lutheran Services for the Aging (LSA). This will be promoted in
March with pledges/gifts received on April 3rd. Mentioned the sick-
Emma Dupree, Tim Shea, Dave Cella, Kathy Miottke, Wade Roach, John Glasgow, and
Helen May Pontick on the death of her husband.
New members- Brian & Lori Franko and children will join the church
on 2/20. Jackson Scott (grandson of Joan Bower) will be baptized on 2/20. Midweek
Lenten Services will be held at noon and 6:15. The NC Synod has formed a
Colleague Care Group for Pastors serving congregations struggling with the Aug
2009 changes in guidelines. Motion for participating in the Keeping the
Promise Campaign was made by Bob Morrissey, with 2nd by Jeff
Ogonowski. Motion carried. Motion made
to move the times of the Mid-week Lenten Services to noon and 6:15 was made by
Bob Morrissey, with 2nd by Paul Miottke. Motion carried.
Motion to accept the new members Brian & Lori Franko was made by
Finance Committee- Ollie Beall- See report (bulletin board/website). The carpeting of classrooms has been completed.
Property- Paul Miottke- See Report (bulletin board/website). The Property Clean Up on April 9th has a sign up sheet posted. There will be yard cleanup, garden preparation, drain pipe, shrubs planted, windows cleaned, walls dusted, weeding & weed control. The large TV in Weeks Hall will be sold.
Christian Ed- Sarah Hall- See Report (bulletin board, website)
Youth- Jeff Ogonowski- no report yet, committee meeting will be held Sunday. Camp Don Lee may be used for a Youth Retreat.
Social Ministry- Barbara Barden- See Report (Bulletin Board/Website). Barbara stated she will be on standby for the Baby Bottle Campaign. Suggestion made to get in touch with Roz for a possible Thrivent match.
Evangelism- Eleanor Lockhart- See Report (bulletin board)
Worship & Music- Craig Schadewald- Meeting has been postponed till 2/24.
Personnel- Glenn Kaijala- 7 more back-ground checks completed, bringing total to 43
Bernie-Announcements: Educational meeting on 2/27 at 10:45am. Services will be held at 8am & 9:30am (will also have Sunday School at 9:30). The Bishops visit is this Saturday, 2/12. Bernie will be resuming her Sunday School the 1st Sunday in March.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:40pm with The Lord’s Prayer.
